Judge rules Airbnb illegal in New York City:

I was wondering when this would happen.

Here in Satellite Beach, Airbnb most certainly violates city code. The intention of the rule isn’t really to protect hotel interests, but to protect neighbors from transient traffic. Most suburban neighborhoods have short term lease restrictions for the same reason.

It might be great to make a little side income on an empty property, and it’s certainly great for consumers to find interesting and cheap places to stay — but it sucks for the person living underneath who now lives under a de-facto hotel room.

Curious to see where all of this ends up going.

Writers from the hit TV series “Mad Men” are working on a potential TV series that would focus on the space program of the 1960s and the journalists who covered it. The working title of the program is “Cocoa Beach.” If it comes to fruition, the series could debut as early as this fall.

So this would be like Ralph Morse meets Don Draper? I’m just imagining Jon Hamm lurking outside John Young’s window taking photographs of his home office.

Get Social Brevard is one of my favorite local groups. Think of it as Social Media Club for every day folks — with a philanthropic twist. Every event helps raise money and awareness for one of their focus charities for the year.

This year, Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation, Special Olympics of Brevard, Nana’s Children House and Central Brevard Humane Society are the charities. All wonderful causes who deserve our support.

This month, GSB’s hosting a panel on Social Media with some great local organization leaders. Yours truly will be the humble emcee :)
