Justin Bieber is now 18 years old. Which means, technically, he’s an adult. But the question remains: Is he a man? (If you just laughed, congratulations: You’re mean.) GQ sent Drew Magary to spend one wild night with the Beeb in Los Angeles right after his big birthday, with explicit orders not to come back until we knew the answer

Suna Clinchard, 36, of Satellite Beach, is about to become a stay-at-home mother to her two children, one 4, the other 7 months old. Earlier this year she put in her resignation notice as a teacher after returning from maternity leave.

“I want to be there for the ‘firsts’ milestones,” said Clinchard, whose husband is a quality assurance manager for an aerospace company. “But I really want to be there the other times, like when your baby is sick and the baby sitter is there instead of you. I want to be there, be the one who holds him. I want to experience his life, and not have to rush through everything. I think that happens when you’re a working mom.”

Like other stay-at-home moms, Clinchard and her husband carefully reviewed their finances to see how it could work. She joked she had to “bully her husband” a bit to see how they could make the make finances work. Getting the ax: Vacations, eating out and cable television.

Getting more attention: Hand-me-down clothing and coupling.

Clinchard said she also is saving $8,000 a year on day-care for her 4-year-old and also won’t be doing as much driving, so she will save on gasoline costs.

“I want my children to be around the best of me that I am,” Clinchard said. “And I wasn’t able to juggle it all to do that. I was giving half of what I wanted to give to my work and half of what I wanted to give to my family. And I was just spread so thin that I couldn’t be the person that I am.”

Great article — we’re proud of you, Suna!

CBS: Genshaft's blocking of UCF led to BigEast instability

CBS: Genshaft's blocking of UCF led to BigEast instability:

With conference realignment sweeping the country, Marinatto still was able to convince TCU in November of 2010 to join the Big East, to help bolster an inconsistent football league. People mocked a Texas team joining the Big East, but it gave the league a solid football addition. That would have given the Big East nine football members in 2012. There was even speculation the Big East might be able to attract an ACC school to join the Big East, which was in the midst of negotiating a huge upcoming media rights deal.

“At that point when the Big East was intact, the only school the Big East could have legitimately added that made sense was UCF,” an industry source said. “Maryland and Boston College? They wouldn’t even return the Big East’s calls. But the Big East couldn’t add UCF because [South Florida president] Judy Genshaft kept shooting down UCF.”

Genshaft’s continuing insistence to block UCF from the league was a huge contributing factor which ultimately led to the league’s current instability, a league source said. That’s because in April of 2011, with TCU on board, Marinatto and the league negotiated a nine-year deal worth $1.4 billion for its new media rights deal. Marinatto recommended to his presidents that they accept the offer and they promptly voted against it.

“I think that was the stupidest decision ever made [to turn it down] in college athletics,” a league source said. “To have the equity of ESPN as your brand and the stability that would have gone with it.”

The current recovery is slow, all right, but it’s no slower than the two previous ones.

James Paulsen, the chief investment strategist at Wells Capital Management, called this pattern to my attention in a visit to the magazine this week. Paulsen has a similar chart in the 43-page deck of slides that he shows clients.

“People say the economy is broken,” Paulsen told me. “It’s not. This is the New Normal. And the New Normal is 25 years old.” The New Normal, he says, goes back to the mid-1980s, when the rate of labor-force growth notably slowed.

Mice That Eat Yogurt Have Larger Testicles

Mice That Eat Yogurt Have Larger Testicles

Titanic II: Australian billionaire to build real life sequel to doomed ship

Titanic II: Australian billionaire to build real life sequel to doomed ship

Pete’s first hair cut.

Pete’s first hair cut.

Spring!
